Guidestar profile creation and maintenance

Sam Doyon Updated by Sam Doyon

Certain funders require charitable organizations to have up-to-date profiles on file with the Guidestar in order to receive funding. Though these reports are not legally required, certain organizations file them anyway in the event that a private funder or large donor would like more information on the organization’s operations and finances.

Gaining access to your organization's Guidestar profile

After creating an account, you will need to request access to your organization's profile. This is achieved by creating an account with Guidestar and then claiming your organization's profile. Once you claim your profile, you must be approved by Guidestar before you can update your profile.

Updating organizational profile

Once you have access to your organization's profile, you can begin to update the profile with details needed to achieve certain tiers. Those tiers are broken down below, and indicate who is responsible for completing each required section (ArtsPool or the member). You can also find a comprehensive list of requirement on the Guidestar website.

Details below are required. There are other pieces of information that can be included, but are not required for successful completion of the profile.

As you can see, with the Bronze and Silver levels, ArtsPool is well-equipped to assist members in achieving these Guidestar ratings. Once members have achieved a Silver rating, they must complete the rest of the information to increase their standing.
